The Definition of Futility

is watching your DVDs of HBO's Rome and hoping that this time, this time Julius Caesar won't die, because you like the actor playing him, Ciaran Hinds.

Jim says that since Caesar was probably the most famous non-religious death of the last 2,500 years or so (up until 1865 or 1963, anyway) and that I shouldn't hold my breath.

Alison - I did the same thing when I watched it last season. I kept hoping somehow he'd live. But then I remember, it's history. Duh.

I did that with Deadwood and Titanic too. Somehow I kept wishing the boat wouldn't sink.

I hate when that happens! ;)

LOL! We women are just incurable romantics. At least when I watch Ciaran Hinds in one of the many versions of Jane Eyre (my favorite book, so I watch every version I can), I know he gets the girl!
