How Do They Do It?

This photo from the Globe's online real estate section (excuse me--the luxury section) caught my eye. And okay, I get that this is a pricey condo--open floor plan, beautiful materials, no doubt great location. What I don't get is: How the heck do you keep a place like this clean and uncluttered? Where's the junk mail? Where are the school notices? What about the newspapers, magazines, and books, books, books?

Or is that just me?

If you can afford $1.5M for a condo, you can probably afford a butler and maid or three.

There's this show on HGTV called "Buy Me" that actually features psychotic homeowners with 25 years of crap in their dining rooms and basements (and, often, roofs about to collapse, walls about to fall over, etc.). My People!

My people--hell, my mother!! :-) Okay, I exaggerate, and she's the world's best mom (definitely not psychotic), but as far as a housekeeping role model...um, not so much.

For all my electronic gadgets, I still love my printed stuff. Sigh.

Well they took the photo once and now it's probably semi messy.. they'll be having household help here!

It helps to constantly declutter. Still - I'm staring at a pile of mail, a comforter that needs to be put into cold storage and a shopping bag with some new sandals.

Now I've shared my shame - I'm motivated!

The biggest motivator for me is a visit from my in-laws, who are fabulous at keeping their world neat and decluttered. They're coming next month, so the dumpster is in the driveway for a mammoth spring cleaning--no half-steps here! :-)
