Kris and Brad Forever!

This is not technically SFNE--Kris and her husband live in San Diego, and we've never met. But Kris, the sister of my friend Michele, is so persuasive about the charms of her husband that I've decided to name her an honorary New Englander. Ironically, Massachusetts--the bluest of states--has the lowest divorce rate in the nation, and I think these two kids are going to make it all the way!

The name of her blog refers to Kris's passion for knitting. Michele has been trying to teach me to knit AND purl. As one of the craft-impaired, this is much scarier than it sounds. Fortunately, she's very patient.

I don't find it ironic that MA has the lowest divorce rate. Republican views are all about being selfish, and selfishness and marriage aren't a good...uh...marriage.

Not only does MA have the lowest divorce rate, but CT is #2, and RI is #4. In fact every NE state is in the top half.

Love your new blog.

Thanks for the kind words--and the good thoughts about what makes a marriage. After nearly 21 years of weddedness (new word?), I agree that selfishness and a happy marriage don't mix.

Though my husband grew up in Pittsburgh, he was born in Connecticut, so that probably helps. :-)

BTW, your blog is very cool! Dear Readers--check out Katie's Papa at http://katiespapa.blogspot.com/

We also have the lowest gun crime rate and the strictest gun laws. So much for "armed society...polite society." More like, "unarmed society, fewer holes in people suit society".

Just be careful who you say such things to. I believe a citizen of Florida would be within his or her rights to shoot you for talking that way. Upsetting, ya know. :-)

Thanks, I'm truly honored! Michele is busy trying to get us to be actual New Englanders - it might happen down the road!

Good luck with the knitting. :)
